Fieldwork was busy!

Date: May 13, 2022Location: Saipan, CNMICaption: This silver due drop spider, a klepto parasite spider, is stealing a bite from a banana spider's (Argiope appensa) butterfly meal.
I thought I'd be updating my website throughout the summer with awesome photos, but the fieldwork got to me. I'll be posting more photos as I find the time! :')

Un-dusted my camera!

Date: May 12, 2022Location: Saipan, CNMICaption: The last time I used my camera was in late 2018 or early 2019. It has been years, but I decided to bring a telephoto lens and a macro lens to fieldwork. I am so glad I did. I forgot how much I loved taking photos. It has been so long, but I'm excited to get back at it again. I honestly have forgotten how f-stops and iso's and all of it work, but maybe with practice I can figure it out again. My favorite bird is definitely the sihek or Mariana Kingfisher. It's beautiful royal blue feathers is just simply captivating + they're really easy to take photos of! It's insane to experience Saipan and observe all the beautiful birds that Guam once had. The beautiful bird songs in the forest makes the silent forests on Guam feel even more tragic.

I won 2nd place at the 25th Annual Front Range Student Ecology Symposium Photo Contest!

Date: May 6, 2018Location: Cocos Island, GuamCaption: This may be a picture of the IUCN Critically Endangered Slevins Skink or Mariana Skink (Emoia slevini) on a leaf stalk of a coconut tree, which was taken on a small island off the coast of southern Guam. This skink is endemic to Guam, but has disappeared off the main island since the introduction of the brown tree snake (Boiga irregularis). This is not a confirmed photo of the skink as it is not clear whether this skink has the characteristic the checker board pattern on its back.
